ELBERTA — Elberta Town Councilman Michael Hudson is enlisting volunteers to help with a two-day project to relocate the Town Park playground equipment.

“I would like to have 10 to 15 people,” he said.

That’s because on Friday and Saturday, the equipment will be moved into a newly fenced-in area that also features a kids’ fort.

“We’re going to get the equipment broken loose on Friday,” Hudson said. “Then Saturday will be the big day of moving it.”

The project will take place 8 a.m.-4 p.m. both days.

As previously reported, those included the construction of a picnic pavilion housed near a fenced-in children’s playground.

“This is the fourth week we’ve been up here working,” Hudson said, adding that he has donated his own time to the project.

Donations have actually made the entire renovation possible, with donations of funds and supplies.

In addition, Hudson and volunteers are constructing benches to be placed throughout the park. They will be personalized for individuals and organizations donating $250 for one bench.

“If I have 30 people that want one, that’s what we’ll build,” he said.

Another renovation project under way for the town is in the Elberta Civic Center, which features new flooring among its improvements.

“We will have the civic center completely finished by the next council meeting,” Elberta Mayor Marvin Williams said. “We need to put together a dedication ceremony.”

Upon its re-opening, the civic center will be available to rent for $500 a day, with a $200 cleaning and damage deposit.
