ELBERTA, Ala. — The Elberta Police Department now has several new Tasers, thanks to a $2,500 donation from Centennial Bank.
According to Elberta Police Chief Stan DeVane, the funds enabled the purchase of three devices, to supplement the recent addition of two budgeted Tasers.
“These things are about $900 apiece,” he said.
DeVane explained that the new Tasers are yellow, to differentiate them from officers’ handguns. In addition, the new pieces are equipped with digital chips that record the amount and length of discharges.
