GULF SHORES, Ala. — Celebrate summer when Gulf Shores Out & In free concert series presents Shane Tucker performing “Elvis Remembered,” a tribute to the undisputed King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Slip into those blue suede shoes July 16 at 7 p.m. as the “Hunka, Hunka Burnin’ Love” takes the indoor stage of the Erie Meyer Civic Center, 1930 W. Second St. in Gulf Shores. The door open at 6:30.
Tucker began getting “all shook up” several years ago when a friend asked him to perform at the original Jake’s, then located on Fort Morgan Road. For that first gig, he shaved his beard, (leaving those trademark sideburns), borrowed a costume and lip-synched to pre-recorded tracks.
Knowing he could do greater justice to “The King” by actually singing, Tucker bought his first costume and began performing live for friends and family.
Not only does he now give full-on performances, tossing kisses and scarves to the ladies, he frequently competes in Elvis tribute artist contests and revues such as the “Images of Elvis.”
Born in Demopolis, Ala., Tucker now resides in Foley with his wife, Carmyn, who teaches at Magnolia School and is an accomplished vocalist in her own right, and their two daughters.
He is an assistant principal at Foley High School, and has earned quite a fan-base in the South Baldwin area.
