Emery A. Smith, 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, a native of Magnolia Springs, left this world on Nov. 22, 2014 while visiting his children in Lancanster, Calif.
Born Dec. 16, 1937 to Julia Denton Weeks, Emery served honorably in the United States Army and retired in 1977, earning a Bronze Star for heroism.
After his retirement from the United States Army, Emery successfully managed a business in San Francisco, Calif. for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Jessie Weeks; and his daughter, Frances “Fran” Smith.
In passing, he leaves his cherished wife, Jeannine Cardoit Smith; his three sons, Edwin “Mike” Smith and his wife Erlette of Kaui, Hawaii, Bradley “Brad” Smith of Magnolia Springs and Paul Smith and his wife Ayoko of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; his beloved grandchildren, Edwin Smith of Williamsburg, Va., Sherry Smith of Kaui, Hawaii and Keono and Sakura Smith of Rosemont, Calif.; his stepdaughter Beatrice Smith, her husband Mitch and their beloved son Nicholas of Colorado Springs, Colo., Nathalie Sorgaard, her husband Duane and their son Jacqes of Colorado Springs, Colo,. and David Achord and his son Amari of San Francisco, Calif.; and his great-grandchildren Kelau and Haan’i Smith of Williamsburg, Va.
He is loved and missed by all.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at 10 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church in Magnolia Springs.
