Emmett Derrell Dyess, 65, a native of Stapleton and resident of Bay Minette, died at his residence Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
He was a carpenter in home construction.
He is survived by two daughters, Julia Eileen (William Eric) Bundy and Allison Lenore Dyess, both of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Lewis Lathan (Vicki) Dyess of Loxley; two sisters, Ophelia Marie (Mark) Sitter of Greer, S.C. and Joline Walters of Taylors, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Alexa Bundy, Ethan Bundy and Liam Bundy.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Lenora Adams; one brother, Joseph Dyess; and his parents, Emmett L. and Evie Stokes Dyess.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 3, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Stapleton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alan Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 2, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Norris Funeral Home.
