FOLEY, Ala. — Elvis will be in the building later this month — the Foley Civic Center, that is.

That’s because “An Evening with Elvis” benefit for Foley Elementary School is slated for Thursday, April 24.

The 16th event will be held 6-8:30 p.m. at the civic center and will feature an evening of activity.

“It includes a French meal, entertainment and an auction,” FES Principal Dr. William Lawrence said, adding that free childcare will be provided at the elementary school. “It’s going to be a night out for couples, and the children will be fed and have a nice time.”

He explained that Christian Life Church in Foley will provide volunteers for the event.

For the adults, entertainment will be provided by a familiar favorite.

“An Evening with Elvis featuring Shane Tucker and the Promised Land Band,” Lawrence said. “It will be a 30 to 45-minute show.”

That show will be preceded by cuisine with a Parisian flair. Menu items will include stuffed chicken, red potatoes and green beans — all with a French flair featuring such spices as rosemary and thyme.

But that’s not all. The fun will continue with an auction for items provided by Foley area businesses and organizations, everthing from a Yetti cooler from Ace Hardware and pottery from the Foley Performing Arts Center to a private dolphin cruise from Cold Mill Fleet, a $1,500 orthodonic treatment from Island Orthodonics and four Hopper passes from Disney. Not to mentional a three-month membership to Jason’s Fitness, an electric grill from Baldwin EMC, an aluminum grill from Dennis Aluminum and a charter fishing trip on a company boat or the provision of a flat-screen TV from mediStat Rx, among others.

The $10 tickets for the event are on sale now. They are available at the FES office, Stacey’s, Anthony’s Bridal and Chick ‘n’ Sea, all in Foley.
