SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Five Rivers Delta Resource Center announced that free Saturday classes begin July 25 with “Wind Energy”—for third- through fifth-grade students—set for 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. “Feathered Friends”—also for third- through fifth-grade students—is set for 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 8.
The first class will cover the topic of wind and how it can be harnessed to provide alternative energy. The class is from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 25 and will provide kids with the opportunity to see how wind can be harnessed as an energy source. The class will include hands-on activities, a nature walk and a ride aboard the pontoon boat the “Pelican.”
Other classes will range from topics such as birds and backyard habitats, to life cycles of butterflies, frogs and dragonflies all with their own activities. Class schedules can be found at www.alabama5rivers.com and on the Five Rivers Delta Resource Center Facebook page.

Five Rivers Delta Resource Center is located on the Causeway (U.S. Highway 98) in Spanish Fort and is the gateway to the second largest river delta in the country, the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. The facility has many activities for visitors to learn about the delta and to explore its bayous first-hand including an exhibit hall, gift shop, theater, walking trails, pontoon boat excursions and canoe and kayak rentals.
