Era Delores Engle (Edie), 93, born in Dora, Alabama and resident of Orange Beach, Alabama, passed away, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at home with her family by her side.

Edie was born in Dora, Alabama to William Henry Ellis and Mintie Texanna Myrick on Oct. 25, 1922. She was raised in Sumiton, Alabama. She was the youngest of 12 brothers and sisters. Edie was the last surviving sibling.

She was a hard working lady who worked for many years as a “Rosie the Riveter” at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham, Alabama during WWII. It was there that she met her husband, Leo C. Engle. They were married from 1946 until his death in 1982.

She was an avid reader and loved to paint beautiful oil paintings of nature and landscapes for her family.

She is survived by her son, Leo Engle and his wife, Kitty of Orange Beach and her daughter, Anita Henry, of Piedmont, Alabama.

A private family service will be held at a later time.
