AIRHOPE, Alabama (March 29, 2012) – “Finding Form”, a new solo exhibit of artwork by local artist, Ann Pearce is opening this Friday, April 6th at the Eastern Shore Art Center. The included works represent a wide range of subjects from landscapes, animals, and coastal scenes to figurative paintings demonstrating the breadth of Pearce’s artistry.

Pearce, a resident of Point Clear, is an award-winning artist who uses a variety of mediums in her work with an emphasis on figures. Her paintings have been juried into many Southern shows. Some of her honors include two purchase awards, inclusion in a traveling show of Alabama artists, an honorable mention in the Alabama Watercolor Society Show and entries in tri-state watercolor shows.

Pearce studied at Boston University of Fine and Applied Arts and with Karl Tabery in Massachusetts. Through this study of human anatomy and the variety of shapes in nature and imagination, her artwork is a continual search for finding form.

Pearce said: “A love of what pencil, pen and paint can create on a page has been with me since childhood. By turning troublesome numbers into cheery characters on math papers to pass algebra and geometry, my art has always sustained me.”

“My youngest child was on duty in Iraq and knowing I could have a temporary escape from worry with a paintbrush was a true blessing.”

From bones in bodies to color in clouds, these drawings and paintings are Pearce’s attempt to present impressions of life around here. She welcomes visitors to her interpretation of our wondrous world. She dedicated this show to the dear friends who have encourages her work.

The exhibit will remain on display until April 28.
