ESAC exhibits teapots, table settings

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Eastern Shore Art Center, 401 Oak St. in Fairhope, has announced its May exhibits.

•Southern Settings:

Teapots & Tablescapes, May 1 through May 30.

This exhibit is art following function. Teapots come in all shapes, designs, materials and sizes. They are not only utilitarian but often elegant, whimsical, traditional or avant-garde.

These pieces have a richness of imagination, inventiveness and humor.

View these interpretive teapot pieces along with 11 original works of art painted by area artists.

Artists included in the exhibit are Leslie Johnson, Susan Jones, Kathy Sheppard, Donna Dodson, Dixie Fortis, Erin Fitzhugh Gregory, Faye Earnest, Ann Calagaz, Susan Breitfeller, William Thompson and Libby McKibbon McCawley.

Table designers were inspired by these paintings and have created exquisite tablescapes with a Southern charm.

Table designers include Adele Stafford; Barbara Corte and John Nelson; Kitty Chew and Katherine Taylor; Carl Clark; Summer Ennis; Loretta Potapenko; Nancy Rowe; Geri Moulton; Katchie Cane; Betty Savage and July Thompson; Claudia Ainsworth; René Mashburn; Ann Morgan; and Sharon Dearing.

•Cherchez La Femme (Look for the Woman), May 1 through June 27.

This exhibit includes mothers/daughters/grandmothers/sons or just buddies that routinely paint together. Now they will be displayed together in the Courtyard Gallery.

Included in the exhibit are the Herndons (M.G. Herndon, Mo Ray and Corinna); the Means (Jo Patton, Trishia, Patty Brady and Bailey) the Spies (Maria and Susie); the Morrises (Stephanie and Eliot); the Raias (Nancy and Ashley); and PALS, a painting group, (Dixie Fortis, Linda Ledat [Fidelis], Brenda Lomax, Joyce Bowers, Phyllis Murray, Kathy Lambert, Baba Hendricks, B. Beth Weldon, Jane Waite and Alyson Jackson).
