LOXLEY, Alabama — An inmate from the Loxley Work Release Center was recaptured less than two hours after reportedly failing to return from an assigned job on Wednesday.
Demetricus Vashone Curry, 39, was reported missing at 6:50 p.m. and reportedly recaptured at 8:43 p.m.
According to a release issued Wednesday by the Alabama Department of Corrections, Demetricus Vashone Curry, 39, failed to return to the Work Release Center after leaving an assigned job at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Orange Beach.
Curry was convicted in March of 2013 on third degree robbery charges in Mobile and was serving a 20-year sentence, according to the release.
This is the seventh reported escape over the last five months from the facility, the last reported on Oct. 28 when Devon Lloyd Williams, 41, was reported missing from an assigned job in Mobile. Williams has yet to be recaptured.
Also in October, Work Release corrections officer Jerrett Derrell Hooks was arrested on two counts of helping an inmate escape and one count of using his position for personal gain.
