Esther Manning Turner

Esther Manning Turner, age 92, a resident of Fairhope, Ala., passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2015.

She was retired from International Paper Co. and was a member of the American Legion Post 199 Fairhope for more than 50 years.

She was also a member of O.E.S. for more than 55 years and a member of the International Paper Co. “Paper Dolls.”

She was class salutatorian of Excel Ala. High School Class of 1939, where she graduated at the age of 16.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Turner.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Turner DeWitt of Fairhope; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Turner of Anchorage, Alaska and Mary Turner of West Point, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; many other loving relatives and friends.

The family wishes to thank longtime caregiver and friend, Queenie Atkinson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Shepherd’s Place in care of Fairhope United Methodist Church.
