"font-family:">Eugene A. Rundquist, 80, of Ackworth, Ga. went to live with his Lord on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011.
"font-family:">Gene was born in Silverhill on March 8, 1931 to Axel and Evelyn Rundquist.
"font-family:">He graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1949 and then from LeTourneau Technical College in 1954.
"font-family:">He and Betty Chandler of Silverhill were married in 1953.
"font-family:">He proudly served his country as a surveyor in Korea from 1954-1956. After returning from his tour of duty, he and Betty settled in Sacramento, Calif., where he began his career as an aerospace engineer and where they began raising their family of three beautiful girls.
"font-family:">Many years later, Gene’s career took them to south Florida. Highlights of his career include work on the second stage of the Saturn V rocket and later, work with the mirrors of the Hubble telescope.
"font-family:">Gene is survived by one sister, Marjorie McCann; two brothers, Carl Rundquist and Dale Rundquist; three daughters, Cathy Rundquist, Tony Lanius and Pamela Montgomery; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
"font-family:">He made an indelible impact on many lives, and is sadly missed by all.
"font-family:">The family will receive friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, from 4 until 6 p.m.
"font-family:">Graveside services will be held at Silverhill Cemetery on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at 11 a.m.
