Eugene Patrick “Gene” Callahan, 89, a native of Clarks Summit, Pa. and resident of Summerdale, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013.
He retired from Southern Electric Co. after many years of service as a sales representative.
Mr. Callahan was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and an avid Alabama fan.
He was a longtime active member of New Life in Christ Church of Foley. A true servant of God, he loved his Lord and served Him with all his heart.
Mr. Callahan was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Callahan; brother, Thomas Callahan Jr.; and sister, Ann Moore.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Prince Callahan; children, Jane Callahan and Joan Davidson of Atlanta, Ga. and Darryl Prince (Linda) of Pensacola; grandchildren, Jordan Adrianne and McKenzie Jones; sister, Margaret Toth of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; sister-in-law, Minnie Callahan of Seal Beach, Calif.; special friend, Randy Word of Gadsden, Ala.; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held from New Life in Christ Church on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Wilde officiating. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Tim Courtright, Evans Russell, Larry McInnis, Darryl Prince, Toby Hollis, and John Loyd.
