Eva Christa Smith, 60, born Sept. 23, 1950, a resident of Pensacola, Fla., died April 4, 2011 with her family by her side.

She was born in Berlin, Germany, and moved to the United States in the late 1950s. She became a naturalized citizen and moved to Pensacola in 1980 from Rhode Island.

She was a licensed cosmetologist and successful business owner of Attitudes Hair and Nail Salon in Perdido Key, Fla., until Hurricane Ivan. She survived Hurricane Ivan with her family when seven feet of water came into her house and destroyed her home in Grande Lagoon along with her Salon.

She enjoyed trips to the casino’s playing Sizzlin 7, oldies music, and most of all, spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rita Hein and Richard F Gray; and one grandson, Stephen Bane II.

Survivors include her husband Russell Smith; four children, April (Benji) Adams and Richard (Misa) Levin, both of Pensacola; Amanda (Greg) Youngblood and Delinda Bane of Panama City, Fla.; grandchildren, including Patrick, Ryan, Jeremy, Garrett, Hope, Damien, Alexis, Dustin, Jay Dawson, Kristin, Kenny and Kyle; great-grandchild, Calli; god-child, Idil Willemsen; aunts, including Christa (Inga) Hein and Gina Hein; uncles, including Walter Hein; dearest friends in Holland, Yokie and Tony Willemsen, Antonie and Beyna Willemsen, Ans van Kleef, and family.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at the Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Stapleton.

Pallbearers are Patrick Bane, Colten Chavers, Ryan Youngblood, Jeremy Youngblood, Garrett Youngblood and Conner Johnson.
