Evelyn Horton Travis, born February 7, 1937, formerly of Ellisville, Miss., passed away June 14, 2013 at Bay Ridge at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort.
Evelyn was the center and eventually the matriarch of her extended family. Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her life.
She enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and cooking for friends and family.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, William A. (Bill) Travis, originally of Laurel, Miss.; children, Col. W. Terry (Rosemary) Travis of Montgomery, Elizabeth Travis (John) Lapeyrouse of Fairhope and Donald A. (Sara) Travis of Calhoun, Ga.; siblings, Col. Claude Robert (Marilyn) Horton, Dona Horton (Bud) Traylor and Janie Horton (Walt) Saxon; grandchildren, Daniel McGraw, Elizabeth (Capt. Matt) Lyles, William (Anne) Lapeyrouse, Kelly (Brian) Mann, Sgt. Jordan (Meagan) Travis, Avery (Dustin) Turnipseed and Will Travis; and great-grandchildren, Alexandria Lyles and Isabella Mann.
A Celebration of Life was held at Westminster Village on Saturday, June 15, 2013.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to your church, The Wounded Warrior Project, or your favorite charity.
