Evelyn Mae Goddard Peebles, our loving mother, exchanged this life for one in Heaven on June 19, 2012.
Born in Huntington, West Virginia on December 3, 1921, a child of Joseph A. and Minnie Hurst Goddard, Evelyn grew up in Calera, AL then moved to Foley, AL. She married Martin C. Peebles in December of 1941 after meeting him while working at a Foley Gladiola Farm. Evelyn, a devoted mother and grandmother throughout her life, enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She seeded this world with her labors of love, sweet spirit, and the birth of ten children and left us with a legacy of strength, determination, and love. Preceded in death by: Husband: Martin Peebles; Brothers: Odis, James, Akin, Hedrick, Roy, Leroy, and Robert; Sisters: Oralee, and Irene; and Grandson: Mitchell. Survived by: Children: Dawn (William), Joan (Nathan), James (Gaynell), Kenneth (Donna), John (Wanda), Anthony, Robert (Cheri), Todd, Susan, and Michael; 22 Grandchildren: Michelle, Joseph, Angie, Jason, Eric, Phillip, Randy, Danny, Kimberlee, Matthew, Jordan, Nicole, Danielle, Samuel, Anthony, Valerie, Becky, Camille, Kristopher, Lyn, and Patric; 18 great grandchildren: Jessica, Riley, Ryan, James, Jesse, Wyatt, Chelsea, Wesley, Peyton, Abigail, Emily, Holly, Amber, Lyndsey, Samuel, Hannah, Michael and Naomi; 3 great- great grandchildren: Corbin, Ella, and Layne. Funeral services will be held at Pine Rest Funeral Home, Foley, AL on Monday, June 25, 2012. Visitation will start at 9:00 am with services to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross or a charity of your choice.
