Fairhope artist John Rezner’s jugs being sold at Daphne’s U.S. Sports Academy

DAPHNE, Ala.—Fairhope artist and resident John Rezner’s face jugs are available for purchase at The United States Sports Academy.

Rezner, the American Sports Art Museum and Archives 2011 sport artist of the year for ceramics, uses Baldwin County clay in his work, and he created a jug of the facial features of the Abbot of the Shaolin Temple, who is considered the leader of millions of Shaolin Buddhists.

“He’s got a series of them that depict baseball players as well,” the academy’s communications coordinator Leigha Bolton said. “They vary in price.”

Rezner completed three face jugs—made of clay—for the academy’s Mr. Baseball campaign, which will name the greatest baseball player of all-time later this year. The three face jugs Rezner finished were of baseball legends Babe Ruth, Ted Williams and Hank Aaron.

These jugs can be purchased at the Academy on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
