FAIRHOPE, Alabama—A city employee was injured while working on electrical lines in downtown Fairhope shortly before noon today, causing a power outage in the area.

The employee, whose name was not immediately available, was conscious and awaiting a Life Flight helicopter about 10 minutes ago, which would take him to a trauma unit in Mobile, according to law enforcement personnel at the scene.

An official statement from the city will be released soon, Assistant Police Chief Terry Sanders said.

Photographs will be posted here shortly and details added as they become available.
