The Downtown Fairhope Business Association will host “The Polar Express” movie in 3D under the stars in downtown Fairhope at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20.
The movie screen will face south towards the bay and will be set up near the intersection of Fairhope Avenue and Section Street, according to a city news release.
“The group is so excited about this opportunity to do something really special for the community,” Pete Blohme, DFBA President and Owner of Panini Pete’s Café and Bakeshoppe, stated in the news release. “The Downtown Merchants appreciate the support of locals, and this is just one way we would like to say thank you this holiday season.”
The first 400 children will receive complimentary 3D glasses, and all children are invited to wear their Christmas pajamas, according to the release.
“This will be such a great weekend in Fairhope,” Mayor Tim Kant stated in the news release. “Fairhope will kick off the holidays on Thursday, Nov. 18 with the Tree Lighting Ceremony, the outdoor movie will be Saturday, Nov. 20 and then Christmas Open House will be that Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.”
Blankets and lawn chairs are for suggested for the event, which is free and open to the public. Concessions will be available and many downtown restaurants will be open. Rain date for the movie will be at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21.
