FAIRHOPE -- Fairhope High School is seeking nominations for inductees into the Fairhope High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The FHS Athletic Hall of Fame, established in the fall of 1983, recognizes outstanding achievements of individuals who attended and/or were coaches at Fairhope High School.

The long-standing tradition of success in the athletic programs has brought to the forefront a great number of outstanding athletes. Over one hundred twenty-five athletes and fifteen coaches have been inducted into the Hall of Fame and more than fifty individuals have been honored in the associate category.

The community can become part of this recognition program by submitting a nomination for your favorite Pirate athlete or coach according to the following criteria:

• Athletes and coaches will be considered as candidates for the Hall of Fame. Others who have made exemplary contributions to Fairhope High’s athletic program are eligible for associate status.

• There is a 10-year waiting period from the date of graduation before an athlete may be considered. There is no waiting period for coaches.

• Athletic abilities and achievements during the nominee’s school career will be the primary considerations.

• Service to the school and community before and after graduation will also be considered.

• There is a maximum of four inductees per year with no limit on the number of associate members.

The deadline for nominations to be received is September 12.

Nominations should be in writing and must include the following information: name, address, phone number, years of participation, sport(s) in which the nominee participated, special honors received, and outstanding contributions or honors outside the athletic field.

The honorees will be formally inducted during pre-game of the Baker football game on Sept. 30 at the Fairhope Municipal Stadium, and they will be celebrated at the Hall of Fame Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 29 at Blue Marlin Restaurant.
