FAIRHOPE, Alabama (UPDATE)--The following statement has just been released by Capt. Stephen A. Arthur of the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, which updates the story we published earlier this morning that is found directly below the update:

"The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office is currently working a homicide that occurred in the Montrose community on Monday evening January 14, 2013," the news release stated. "The Sheriff’s Office received credible information that led investigators to 7740 Parker Road. During the course of the investigation the Sheriff’s Office, Fairhope Police Department and the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office,  developed probable cause that, Immanuel Charles Jenkins AKA “CJ” was responsible for death of Donald Jefferson Howard AKA“DJ”.

"As the result of a thorough and exhaustive investigation, Immanuel Jenkins was apprehended in Jackson County Mississippi early this morning and has been charged with Capital Murder.

"The cooperative efforts of the U.S Marshall’s Service, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Fairhope Police Department, Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office and The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office have led to the apprehension of Mr. Jenkins.

"The investigation continues at this time.  If anyone has information regarding this incident please contact the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office," the BCSO news release stated.

FAIRHOPE, Alabama—A Fairhope man, 22-year-old Immanuel Charles Jenkins, was arrested this morning in St. Martin, Miss., and charged with capital murder in connection with an alleged Monday homicide in Baldwin County, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

No details have yet been released from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s or District Attorney’s offices about whether this morning’s arrest is connected to the alleged homicide that may have occurred Monday on Parker Road in Fairhope.

The only information about the alleged Fairhope homicide on Monday on Parker Road has come from reporting by Mobile television stations Fox 10 News and WKRG News 5.

Baldwin County investigators, who were at the Parker Road location last night, Thursday, Jan. 17, said they were looking for a body in the area, Fox 10 News has reported.

“Deputies said a witness came forward Thursday to report that a person had been shot on Monday, Jan. 14,” Andrew Perez of Fox 10 News reported. “According to investigators, that witness last saw the body at the mobile-home property off Parker Road and was reportedly too scared to report the crime.

“They said he even spoke to his attorney before contacting police,” Perez reported. ”Once on the scene, investigators said they found evidence to support the claim that someone was killed. Authorities said they have identified a suspect and are actively searching for him.”

WKRG News 5 has reported that “a young man was shot and killed in a mobile home off Parker Road near High Ridge Road between Rock Creek and Fly Creek. But, they don't have a body. Investigators are treating the case as a homicide.

“They say family members reported the victim's missing today, and earlier in the week a woman saw the victim's body,” WKRG News 5 reported. “The victim's name has not been released.”

About a dozen BCSO officers and investigators were at the Parker Road scene this morning, and details on the Parker Road case will be released later today, according to county staff.

Jenkins awaits extradition to Baldwin County, according to the JCSO.

Additional information will be posted here when it becomes available.
