Fairhope meetings on planning, economic development and environment next week

FAIRHOPE, Ala. - A busy schedule of city meetings starts off next week with the Planning Commission on Monday Feb. 7, the Economic and Industrial Development Board on Tuesday and the Fairhope Environmental Advisory Board on Wednesday.

The time, place and agendas for those meetings follow:

(I) Planning Commission

5 p.m., Feb. 7, City Council chambers

Agenda

1. Call to Order

2. Approval of the Minutes of the December 6, 2010 Meeting

3. Consideration of Agenda Items:

A. ZC 11.01 Proposed pervious parking amendment to Article IV, Section E. Parking of the City of Fairhope Zoning Ordinance.

B. ZC 11.02 Proposed amendment to Article III, Section B. Allowed Uses of the City of Fairhope Zoning Ordinance to allow restaurants in B-1 Local Shopping District.

C. UR 11.01 Request of Southern Light for an 11.52.11 Utility Review and Approval of the proposed installation of approximately 2209 linear feet of fiber optics. The project will run along the west side of Greeno Road and along the south side of Nichols Avenue.

5. Parks Status Report By Gary Gover:  Main Topic for March Meeting.  Please study excellent report and have comments and recommendations prepared for the March Meeting. 

6. Deepwater Horizon Incident Grant Application:  Fairhope is applying for bulk of this money to be spent on creating a “living shoreline” for South Park, South of the Fairhope Pier.   Scott Douglass is a renowned expert in beach restoration.  He is working with Jeff De Quattro of the Nature Conservancy in developing this plan.
