FAIRHOPE, Alabama (GCN)—The body of Donald Howard, who Mobile police and Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office investigators say was shot and killed Jan. 14 in Montrose, was found Jan. 25 in the Plateau area of Mobile, according to WALA-TV Fox 10, which first reported the story.
Immanuel Jenkins, 22, of Fairhope, was arrested Jan. 18 in Jackson County, Miss., and charged with capital murder in a case that came to light Jan. 17, after witnesses told local law enforcement authorities of the shooting death at a Montrose mobile home near Fairhope earlier that week.
On Jan. 24, Jamon Lawrence, 20, was also arrested in the case and charged with hindering prosecution. He came forward as a witness last week and told police where the body was located, according to WKRG-TV.
An autopsy of Howard will be performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Mobile.
The body was discovered by BCSO deputies with assistance from the Mobile Police Department and ADFS, according to the Press-Register.
Jenikins awaits extradition to Baldwin County, according to the latest information.
A candlelight vigil for Howard will take place Monday at "Howard's old barber shop in Fairhope," according to reporting by Andrew Perez of WALA-TV Fox 10, and the Howard family is making funeral arrangements for next week.
