FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The city of Fairhope will host its annual Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks display, again this year, in Henry George Park and the Fairhope Municipal Pier.

Mayor Tim Kant will welcome the crowd at 6:15 p.m., and the Baldwin Pops Band Independence Day Concert will begin at 6:30 in Henry George Park.

The Honorable Randy Davis (District 96, Alabama House of Representatives) and Dr. Roger Jones will conduct the Baldwin Pops Band in a variety of patriotic and fun music selected for its family appeal.

John Baldwin, minister of music at First Baptist Church in Fairhope, will be the featured vocalist on two patriotic selections.

Featured events will be a children’s march with flags and the “Checkered Tablecloth Award” for the most interesting picnic setup.

After the concert, the band will continue to play while accompanying the fireworks display.

The fireworks, coordinated by the Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department, will begin around 9.

The north end of Fairhope Municipal Park will be open throughout the day and will remain open until no parking is available. The south end of the beachfront park and Knoll Park will be available to spectators.

Handicapped parking will be available near the fountain, but will be limited. Those who wish to park in the handicapped area should arrive early and plan to stay until the fireworks are over.

WABF 1220 AM will broadcast the Baldwin Pops concert live for those who are not able to make it down for the performance. Also, those who sit on the bluff for the fireworks should bring their battery powered radio and tune in for better sound.
