On Tuesday, Nov. 15, a front-page story was headed “Dorgan’s Inn ruling expected today.” Yet, in the next edition of the newspaper, there was no follow-up. What was the ruling?
The banner of the Courier says, “Serving Fairhope, Montrose, Barnwell and Point Clear.” In the Tuesday edition, the front page had one story and one picture of interest to the area. It also had articles concerning Foley, Bay Minette and Gulf Shores.
In the Friday, Nov. 18 edition, the front page contained only two stories regarding the area it claims to serve. Why would anyone in the Fairhope area be interested in two Bay Minette students heading to New York City, or about the story about the Little River Post Office closing, or Central Baldwin’s Relay for Life?
Perhaps you should change your banner to read the Baldwin County Courier! If that becomes the case, we will not be renewing a subscription we’ve had since 1983. Please bring back articles of interest to the area you purport to be serving. Please, no more news of students in other parts of Baldwin County. Please, no more sports news from other areas in the county.
Thank you for taking time to consider our letter. We hope to see some changes soon. Our subscription expires in February.

Editorial note: The Dorgan’s Inn ruling was delayed, but an update is now posted on our website. A follow-up print story will run in the Nov. 29 edition of The Fairhope Courier.
Gulf Coast Newspapers has made many changes over the past year in the presentation of news in its six local newspapers and the quality and variety of news covered. The quantity of byline news stories about the immediate Fairhope locale is about the same as it was but the presentation has changed.
What has been added is more byline content from our sister papers in the county. Many of our residents have life-long connections — personal and professional — with other areas of the county beside the one in which they currently reside, and many have friends and family members who live in other communities in Baldwin County and enjoy reading about important news and activities that affect or involve these loved ones. Also decisions and activities of many of the entities and organizations we report on impact several, if not all, of our Baldwin County communities.
Gulf Coast Newspapers sports coverage has always been a countywide coverage of our high school sports programs. That has not changed, nor will it.
Our online content continues to expand, and we continue to work to include more community news in our print newspapers. We appreciate your comments and hope you will remain subscribers.
