FAIRHOPE, Ala. – The city council rejected all bids for the proposed Fairhope soccer fields and authorized the city to rebid for the project at Monday’s meeting.
Construction on the soccer complex had been projected for this fall with an estimated cost at $3 to 4 million, but the city’s initial bid came back at $5.1 million. The City Council had previously set a $2 million limit for initial construction.
The complex is supposed to built on 40 acres of city-owned land at the corner of Manley Road and County Road 13. The city purchased the land six years ago.
