FAIRHOPE, Ala. - The 7th Annual LA Songwriters’ Festival will take place Sept. 15-17 at the American Legion Post 199 at 700 S. Mobile Street in Fairhope and will benefit The Haven Adoption Guarantee Animal Shelter.
“Hundreds of festival attendees enjoy three days full of music from original songwriters from the Eastern Shore, Lower Alabama, Nashville and other locations with their family and friends, “ said Skip Jones, event chairperson, in a new release. “This year we are thrilled to be able to offer the proceeds to The Haven, our local no-kill animal shelter.”
Presently, 36 original songwriters are scheduled to appear, the news release stated.
In addition, there will be vendor exhibits, food and other activities throughout the event.
The event will be hosted by singer-songwriters Evans Davis and Charles Davis of the Leavin’ Brothers.
On Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Haven’s Mobile Adoption Rescue Unit will be present and full of adoptable animals.
The Haven rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes over 900 animals each year, according to the release, and has served Baldwin County since 2000. The nonprofit animal shelter is responsible for leading the four municipal animal control shelters into creating a no-kill society for companion pets, caring for over 70 homeless cats and dogs at the shelter on any given day, and finding loving homes for these homeless, injured, neglected and abused and abandoned animals. All animals are vaccinated, evaluated both behaviorally and medically, fed, watered and marketed until they find their forever home, the release stated.
“This is a great location for the Songwriters’ Festival – under the oaks and over the bluff,” said Mike Graham, The Haven’s executive director. “We hope everyone has a great time, but The Haven’s intent is serious. We want to end euthanasia in Baldwin County and the money generated will enable us to continue that mission.”
Admission is $10 per day and all proceeds will go to The Haven.
