FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Fairhope Assistant Police Chief Terry Sanders has become a member of the Alabama Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Advisory Committee.
The committee is designed to bring “real issues local governments are facing to the attention of the attorney general’s office, so that they can effectively assist the law enforcement network throughout the state,” according to a city news release.
Sanders has been in law enforcement for 30 years. He started with the Fairhope Police Department in January 2009 as interim police chief, while the city did a nationwide search for a new department head. After Bill Press was hired Fairhope's police chief in July 2009, Sanders became the department’s assistant chief. He served as Bay Minette’s police chief prior to joining the FPD.
As a member of LEAC, Sanders will travel to Montgomery for meetings to share comments and concerns that affect the Fairhope community, the release stated.
