SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Blakeley State Park continues its fall season of narrated boat tours of the Tensaw-Mobile Delta with the next tour Saturday aboard the 50-passenger Delta Explorer.
Fall migratory birds and foliage as well as the year-round animal and plant wildlife of the vast Delta will be highlighted on the two-hour eco-tour that leaves the Blakeley Park dock at 9:30 a.m.
Reserved seating can be assured on what ordinarily is a public “walk-on” excursion of first-come, first-serve by calling 626-5581 and paying in advance using major credit cards. The last Blakeley boat tour was sold out in advance of the Saturday tour. Tickets cost $22 for adults, $12 for children 6 to 12 and are free to children 4 to 5.
The Delta Explorer is also available for charters by groups by calling the Blakeley Park office at 626-0798. A minimum number of passengers or fee is required.
Blakeley State Park is located on State Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of its intersection with U.S. 31 at Spanish Fort.
The Blakeley-owned Delta Explorer is operated by the park as part of its educational outreach program. All proceeds go toward the maintenance of the state historic and nature park, which is open daily to visitors and campers.
