ROBERTSDALE, Alabama --- The family of a local woman say they were “overwhelmed” with support during a fundraiser held Saturday, Sept. 8 at Campbell Hardware & Supply in Robertsdale.

Over 400 plates and 2,000 raffle tickets were sold during the benefit for 37-year-old Kristy Harms, who is battling colon cancer, said family member Bob McClantoc who organized Saturday’s benefit.

A pair of drawings were held, a $600 merchandise gift certificate for Campbell Hardware & Supply in Robertsdale and 100 pounds of wild caught Alabama shrimp. Tickets were sold at $2 each, said McClantoc.

Fish plates were also sold on Saturday at a cost of $10 per plate, he said.

“We are still counting and trying to get a final total on what we raised,” he said, “but I will say that we were overwhelmed by the number of plates we sold and could barely keep up with the demand.”

If you were unable to attend Saturday’s fundraiser and would still like to donate, you can do so at Ronnie Ard’s Kristy Harms Cancer Fund at the New Horizons Federal Credit Union in Foley.
