MOBILE, Alabama — Former Fairhope Lady Pirate pitching ace Farish Beard is having quite a season so far for the University of South Alabama Jaguars.

The sophomore righthander has a perfect record going with 17 wins and no “L’s” accounting for nearly half the Jags 38 victories in 2013. She is carrying a 2.03 ERA through 110-1/3 innings (nine complete games), scattered 59 hits and notched 147 strikeouts.

As a freshman at USA she suffered only two losses with seven wins, but helped South go 41-17 with a remarkable 0.97 ERA. The Jag women won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and earned the bid to the NCAA Regional where they made it to the final series.

The softball Jags take it to Louisiana-Monroe this weekend for a three-day series and return home April 24 to host Troy at 6 p.m.
