BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Faulkner State Community College Sun Chiefs opened their home basketball season Tuesday night with a 76-74 overtime win over visiting Pensacola Christian College.

Playing before a big crowd at Robertson Arena in Sibert Gymnasium in Bay Minette, Coach Jack Robertson’s Chiefs improved to 2-1 overall with the victory.

Four Sun Chiefs scored in double figures with transfer point guard A.J. Roulhac’s 13 points leading the way.

Freshmen Logan Adams and Foley’s Rafael Adams each had twelve points while sophomore Chris Joyner added eleven.

A trio of former Baldwin County High standouts also contributed to the win with redshirt freshman Marcus Johnson scoring eight, sophomore Ronnie Stanley netting six points and true freshman Xavier Dortch also adding six points.

Josh Milsaps and Spanish Fort's Regan Eubanks rounded out the FSCC scoring with two each.

Both Logan Adams and Rafael Adams had ten rebounds each to pace Robertson's Chiefs. Joyner and Johnson had three steals apiece and Roulhac had five assists.

PCC was paced by Mike Goetsch’s game high 22-point effort. T.J. Jackson added 11. Joel Thomas of PCC led all rebounders with 12 boards.

Baskets by Logan Adams and Roulhac, a free throw by Joyner, and layups from Rafael Adams and Roulhac pushed the home team to a quick 9-0 lead but the visiting Eagles battled back and finally tied it at 14-14. It remained tied at 16-16 and 20-20 before a 1-0 FSCC run gave the Sun Chiefs some breathing room.

The home team led 35-24 at intermission.

But the Eagles continued to hang around and a late 7-0 run got them close and four points in the final minute sent the game into overtime tied 62-62.

Logan Adams then hit five of six free throws in the extra period to help his Chiefs take the two-point win.

Faulkner hit 29 of 70 shots from the field but just 5-of-19 from three point land. They were also cold at the foul line, making just 13-of-25 charity tosses.

The Pensacola visitors also suffered from a cool shooting night as they made just 29-of-65 field goal attempts.

They sank 8-of-24 three pointers and 8-of-11 from the foul line.

Faulkner returns home next Tuesday for a 7 p.m game against the Spring Hill JV.

They are in Florida over the weekend for a pair of games against Sante Fe and Tallahassee.
