BAY MINETTE, Ala.—The Faulkner State Community College Lady Sun Chiefs blew a 14 point first-half lead and fell 57-49 to Chattahoochee Valley Thursday night in Bay Minette.
The Sun Chiefs led 24-10 late in the first half but couldn't hold on and lost by eight. Coach Linda Pitts' team fell to 9-8 overall while dropping to 2-2 in conference play. Diamond Williams led the Lady Chiefs with ten points.
Mary Robinson and Kelsey Hutchins each had seven points apiece while Carlissa Coker netted six points. Shuntavia Harris and Tierra Henry scored five points each. Deidre Jones added three and Devan Cleveland, Fushia Stephens, and Sharonda Cooper all scored two points.
Faulkner led 9-6 midway through the first half when Hutchins drained a long three and Harris converted a three point play inside to suddenly give the home team at 15-6 lead.
CVCC's Sierra Parker and Wynterra Pittman hit jumpers for the visitors but Henry and Robinson answered with layups after steals for FSCC.
A Cleveland basket and three points from Williams made it 24-10. The Lady Pirates of CVCC then went on a 9-1 run to cut the lead to 25-19 at intermission.
Pitts' crew moved back out by thirteen with Robinson and Jones sinking three pointers. It was 35-22 when Chattahoochee Valley put together a 16-3 run to knot the score at 38-38.
A Diamond Williams layup and a Hutchins jumper helped Faulkner go back in front at 43-39 but FSCC could only score six points the rest of the way as Parker, Braxton Talton, and Pittman led the visitors to the eight-point victory.
Faulkner returns to action on Monday as they travel to Selma to take on Wallace-Selma.
