Fayelene Elizabeth Gruenloh, age 78, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, while residing at Oakland Place in Fairhope.
Born in Bath, Maine, on July 26, 1934, she resided in many areas of the Northeastern United States, California and Florida while her husband served in the Navy before moving to Silverhill, in 2008. She also served as a Wave in the Navy herself, before serving as a homemaker, mother and grandmother for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano and knitting in her spare time and had a true passion for travelling the world with her son, John, as well as on countless cruises with her husband, John. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred I. and Cordelia Rowe; her husband, John H. Gruenloh; and her brother, Alfred A. Rowe. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Gruenloh (Laurie) of Silverhill; James Gruenloh (Sherrie) of Mobile; Dean Gruenloh (Mary) of Pinellas Park, Fla; Jackie Helton (David) of Tallahassee, Fla; John E. Gruenloh of Tampa, Fla; sisters Sherry Taschke (Jim) and Mary Rowe, both of Jacksonville, Fla. She has 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A private memorial service has been held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice.
