FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Fairhope Center for the Writing Arts is holding its second annual creative writing contest for Alabama college students.
Contest rules:
Short fiction: Complete literary fiction (no novel excerpts, no artwork) of approximately 15-17 pages, typed, double-spaced, 12-point font.
Poetry: A collection of poems up to 10 pages, typed, double-spaced, 12-point font.
Submissions accepted only from full-time undergraduate college students presently enrolled. Only one submission in each category will be accepted. Submission must be previously unpublished.
Address entries to Margaret Davis, 18356 Point Clear Court, Fairhope, AL 36532.
On first page include author’s name, address, e-mail address, telephone number and college affiliation. Subsequent pages must be named and numbered.
Judging by professional writers.
Prizes: One winner in each category will be awarded $250 and an invitation to read the work at the annual Southern Writers Reading event in Fairhope, Nov. 20-21. Second place in each category will receive $150 and third place $100.
Winners will be housed and fed during the event and given the opportunity to meet readers, writers and publishers.
Entry must be postmarked by Oct. 1, 2009.
