FAIRHOPE, Alabama—Although grand jury subpoenas were served on Fairhope’s mayor and senior staff Sept. 15, a federal investigation involving a city contract awarded to the company of state Senator Trip Pittman is now almost a year old.

Pittman, R-Montrose, said an investigative file was opened by federal law enforcement authorities last fall, and he is familiar with an earlier and related series of subpoenas served in connection with his Baldwin County business Pittman Trucking Company.

“We are fully cooperating and will continue to do so,” Pittman said this morning.

“I do not wish to speculate,” he added, referring to the extent of the investigation.

A spokesman for the Unites States Attorney’s office in Mobile declined to comment today.
