“If music be the food of love, play on.” So begins Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” a comedic tale of tangled love, as only the Bard can write. Don’t miss Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s touring production of “Twelfth Night,” hosted by the Fairhope Educational Enrichment Foundation, on Tuesday, April 2 at 7 p.m. in Fairhope High School’s Black Box Theatre.

Widely considered to be the last and perhaps the greatest of Shakespeare's romantic comedies, the Bard looks at love one more time — and at the glorious foolishness of being in love. Both his wit and his wisdom abound in “Twelfth Night,” that state of confusion through which true love eventually finds its way.

This year’s production follows a 2012 ASF sell-out performance in Fairhope of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” “Twelfth Night” is directed by ASF’s Greta Lambert with set design by Tara Houston and costume design by Elizabeth Novak. The play is recommended for children sixth grade and up. A question and answer session with the actors will immediately follow the production.

Proceeds from the performance provide funding to house the ASF performers, who will spend the first week of April in Fairhope performing for more than 1,000 local public school students.

“FEEF is delighted to help bring an ASF performance to the Mobile Bay area,” said FEEF Executive Director Cori Yonge. “This is a win-win situation for our students, the public and the cast of “Twelfth Night.”

A limited number of tickets are available at $15 per person for the April 2 show held at 1 Pirate Drive in Fairhope. Tickets maybe purchased at Page and Palette in downtown Fairhope, online at www.brownpapertickets.com or by calling the FEEF line at 251-990-3333.
