Fiesta fundraiser deemed successful

Posted

The “6th Fiesta”  at Five Rivers Delta Center presented  by Spanish Fort Education Enrichment Foundation was again a tremendous event. Debbie Horst chaired SFEEF’s  second adult evening event and was assisted by Pam Manders, Kelly Stockton and numerous  SFEEF board members.

The evening entertainment was provided by the very popular Andy Smith Band.  The music  kept everyone dancing and singing while enjoying the ”al fresco” event in the perfect setting of Five Rivers open decks. The great food provided by Riley’s Catering was available inside and beautifully displayed on tables decorated to enhance the fiesta theme. The theater wide-screen TV was again available for those wanting to take a break and catch up on the football game (Auburn  vs. Miss. State)

Raffle tickets were available for those who wanted to take a chance to win one of the many terrific raffle items  of weekend condos, paintings, Baybears suite tickets for 12, golf, gift baskets and many more exciting items. The silent auction was very active with bidders going for the coveted custom oil portraits by Melinda Mercer, large  framed photograph by Storybook Photography and a weekend with dinner stay at our coveted Grand Hotel.

In Spanish the word “fiesta” means “party,” and this was indeed a party evening enjoyed by so many Spanish Fort parents, family, friends, teachers and staff. SFEEF would like to thank the sponsors and attendees as  their participation have made it possible this year to provide  $30,000 in teacher/student grants to all Spanish Fort schools, numerous educational programs, advanced teaching equipment and materials, scholarships and the list goes on. The event was so much fun and so successful that we have already set  Nov. 7, 2009  for next year’s grand event.

On behalf of SFEEF and the Spanish Fort community who benefit from your generosity we say thank you to the following sponsors of the 6th Fiesta & Haulin’ Hooves Bull Run, set for  Nov. 15th at the Eastern Shore Centre:

C>U>, Original Oyster House, Riley Catering, James V. Roberts P.C., Greg and Heather Sharp, Star Service Inc., Strickland Orthodontics, Teachers ’N Tools and Trax Tires.

These same sponsors also support the “Haulin’ Hooves Bull Run” of  Saturday, November 15th at Eastern Shore Centre and would love to have everyone interested  to run the 1k and  5k race call 928-8543 for sign-up information.

SFEEF  is “deeply committed to the educational advancement of all Spanish Fort school children” and with the continued support and dedication of the above sponsors, members and community we will be able to continually accomplish our goals.  If you would like to join SFEEF please call 928-8543.  Again thanks to everyone for making this such a fun event in an effort to provide for the future of our children.

Sincerely,  Sandra Bostrom, SFEEF executive director
