BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The city of Bay Minette Fire Department will flush fire hydrants beginning Oct. 27 and continuing through November.
Flushing maintains water quality and cleans water lines of sediment and other residue that may have accumulated over time. It also ensures all of the city’s fire hydrants are in proper working order.
Although beneficial to residents, flushing may temporarily cause low water pressure and water discoloration. While displeasing in appearance, this does not indicate the water is unsafe.
As an extra precaution, run water from your tap until clear before drinking or using it to cook. Since discolored water may cause staining, refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear.
Flushing will only take place within the city’s police jurisdiction. For a map of the areas to be flushed, visit northbaldwinutilities.com For any further information, issues or concerns, contact the BMFD at (251) 580-2552.
