Zoie Rayne Farmer claimed the title of first baby born in Baldwin County in 2010 when she arrived at Thomas Hospital Jan. 1, at 1:48 a.m. At birth, she weighed 7.2 pounds and was 19 inches long. The parents, Molly and Ray Farmer III of Silverhill, were presented with a handmade wreath made by Thomas Hospital Birth Center nurse Chris Simpson, RN and some gift bags, which included the baby’s first pair of shoes, donated by Buckle My Shoe in Daphne. As part of the hospital’s launch of its Golden Anniversary celebration, a $50 U.S. savings bond was also presented for Zoie.
