An open letter sent to President Obama:
I am heartbroken, angry and helpless. And I am completely disgusted with you and your administration. I’m sick and tired of you and your beautiful wife going on with your lives when the entire Gulf Coast is suffering before our eyes. Gee, it was nice that Paul McCartney sang “Michelle” to her, but I think your timing was lousy.
I am a 51-year-old middle-management, educated, professional woman reduced to tears. Why has this oil spill been allowed to come to this? Why, Mr. President? Mr. Jindal told you weeks ago what he needed from you. Many people have come forth with all kinds of ideas, some that might have even worked. Why are we sitting here with oil drfiting towards us, 6 miles away from our beaches? Why are our fishermen out of work? Why are our hotels and restaurants emptying out?
WHY DIDN’T YOU DO SOMETHING SOONER?
Let me tell you what most people in the South think, Mr. President. We wish the jet stream had pulled this oil up towards Washington, D.C. and New York weeks ago. Then you would have cared. Then you would have done whatever it takes.
How can you allow this to go on this long. You claimed, “I take responsibility.” I think you’ve done a terrible job of handling this crisis. And I completely disagree with people who say this is “Obama’s Katrina.” This is much, much worse.
Get with the program, Mr. President. Lose some sleep. Get down here and meet with the people Listen to them. Listen to the governors of our coastal states. They know what we need. Don’t throw money at studying the problem. FIX the problem, Mr. President, and FIX IT NOW.
