Flora-Bama gives back to the community

Posted

For more than 40 years, the Flora-Bama Lounge has endeavored to give something back to the community whenever possible.

The resurgence of spring break, coupled with the ever growing popularity of the Mullet Man Triathlon, Mullet Swing Golf Classic and the Interstate Mullet Toss, have allowed the Flora-Bama to once again make an appreciable contribution back to our community.

With the assistance of the law enforcement agencies in Orange Beach and Escambia County, Fla., this year’s Toss was the safest one ever.

In addition to helping boost our bumper season and increased employment, the Flora-Bama has engaged in raising over $20,000 for local charitable organizations.

The Flora-Bama will be presenting checks to benefit local youth charities in both states. Checks will be presented to the Perdido Bay Youth Sports Association, Orange Beach Parks & Recreation, Boys & Girls Club of Escambia County, Navy Marine Relief Fund, Secret Santa, volunteer fire departments, Corry Stations Chief Petty Officer Association, Marine Corps League Special Events Fund, the Team in Training’s Leukemia Lymphoma Society and the Orange Beach Elementary School’s “Island Harvest Project”.
