DAPHNE, Ala.—Area teens are invited to “Express Yourself @Your Library” this summer by participating in the Daphne Public Library’s teen summer library program from June 1 to June 30.
Beginning at 10 a.m. June 1, teens can attend the library’s official Summer Reading Kick-off and see a live performance by Paul Miller of Flow Circus.
Miller has traveled across the country and abroad performing his one-man variety show. He has studied the masters of vaudeville, silent film and stand–up comedy. He has worked with the Hawaii Volcano Circus; Mobious-Boston’s Center for Experimental Works; and FoodPlay, an Emmy Award-winning show teaching healthy nutrition to school children.
In 1999, he founded Flow Circus with a mission to promote active learning and play through juggling acts.
The Daphne Public Library’s official Summer Reading Kick-off is open to all area children and teens.
Teens in sixth through 12th grade are invited to come to the library and read for prizes as well as to take part in Teen Tuesdays, at 3:30 p.m. throughout June.
Special Tuesday workshops will include a Juggle Me This Teen Workshop; Create a Children’s Book; Become an Artist; Crafts with Abby; and Balloon Art with DK the Clown.
Area teens can register for these free events at the summer reading registration table of the Daphne Public Library.
During the event’s official kick-off, teens can pick up their reading bags and reading logs. The top three teen readers will be invited to a Daphne City Council meeting and receive their reading award presented by Mayor Fred Small.
The Express Yourself @Your Library teen summer program is sponsored by the Friends of the Daphne Public Library.
