W.D. “Chicken” Flowers, 82, a life long resident of Bay Minette, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center of cancer which he battled five times.

He was a member of Bay Minette Masonic Lodge No 498 F&AM, a 32nd degree Scottish and York Rite Mason and a Shriner with Abba Temple Shrine.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Flowers; two sisters, Viola Boyington and Eula Mae Flowers Cruit, and a brother, Elbert Flowers.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Adelene Cumbie Flowers of Bay Minette; daughter, Deborah J. Flowers Ferguson of Bay Minette; two grandchildren, Eddie (Marti) Ferguson of Pine Grove and April (Clint) Harrison of Horse Neck Fork; and four great-grandchildren, Joseph and Olivia Ferguson and Mallory and Macy Harrison.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 8 from the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with Dr. Henry Cox and the Rev. Craig Mims officiating. Burial with Masonic honors followed at Bay Minette Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Abba Temple Shrine Transportation Fund 7701 Hitt Rd. Mobile, AL 36695.
