FOLEY, Ala. — Foley City Council members approved a resolution earlier this week for seasonal flu shots for city employees. Employees who choose to have their families take the flu shots can do so through a payroll deduction on family costs for the $15 shots.
Council members also approved writing off $690 in residential sanitation fees for the 120-day period ending August 2009. Commercial sanitation write-offs totaling $3,200 for 2009 were also approved, as was a $98 insufficient funds check for local liquor taxes for 2009.
Approval was given for the Foley Lions Club and The Trailblazers to use Heritage Park and waive fees for use of the Pavilion. First Presbyterian Church’s request was approved to use the city’s stage for a fellowship event and concert on Oct. 24, 2009, at 2 p.m.
The American Cancer Society’s request to use Heritage Park and Pavilion on two dates was approved. On Nov. 10, 2009, from 5-7 p.m., a Kickoff Celebration will be held, while a Relay for Life event will be held April 16, 2010.
The Krewe of Les Beau Geste was approved to hold a Mardi Gras Parade on Feb. 13, 2010 at noon.
The council suspended the rules for immediate adoption of an ordinance establishing a policy for uncashed checks and unidentifiable court bond balance.
A resolution memorializing the purchase of 11 oak trees for $2,035 was approved. The trees are to go on County Road 20 from Ala. Highway 59 to Juniper Street.
A resolution allocating $950 was approved for Advanced Appraisals to perform an appraisal of city-owned property by the Foley Municipal Airport.
A resolution declaring emergency powers to the mayor or mayor pro tem during a hurricane was approved. The emergency powers would come to bear should the city council not have time to convene during a hurricane.
Council members approved a first reading of an ordinance amending the Zoning Code to establish additional regulations for unrelated people living in one-dwelling units.
