Foley Archery team ready for nationals Oct. 4

FOLEY, Alabama - The Foley Intermediate Archery Team will soon be taking the final step to hopefully a perfect season. The team will travel to Orlando, Fla. to compete in the World Championship on Oct. 4.

They will compete against teams from around the world. The team has finished 4th place for the previous two years.

"Our team has had a very successful season, and we are very proud of our accomplishments," said Coach Ryan Anderson.

The team began the season by winning the sectional tournament at Alma Bryant High School in February. They then traveled to Birmingham, where they won the State NASP Championship in April. Finally, they won the National Championship in Louisville, Ky. in May, outscoring about a hundred teams from across the United States.

"The National NASP tournament in Louisville, KY was very exciting for us. There were about 8,000 archery students which made it a Guinness World Record Tournament," Anderson added.

The team has been practicing daily since the start of the school year preparation for the world tournament.

"I am very hopeful after our previous two world tournaments,” Anderson said. "We have several students who could contend for individual world champions if they perform to their potential."

"I am pumped up and ready to go," said Dalton Anderson, a sixth grade student at Foley Intermediate School who finished second in the NASP National Tournament.
