FOLEY, Alabama - The Foley Lady Lions defeated the Fairhope Lady Pirates 25-18, 23-25, 33-35, 25-12, 16-14 on Tuesday in Class 6A Area 3 play.
Foley (13-9, 3-2) head coach Wing Brett said he was pleased with the way his girls fought back from a 2-1 deficit after dropping the second and third games.
"Before Game 4 we talked about who was tired, how much did we have in us," Brett said. "That was the first time we have been down like that but been able to come back to push it to five games."
Natasha Johnson had 27 digs and 17 kills, Amanda Brett had 28 digs and Karely Alexander had 19 digs for Foley in the win.
"Those three have been key for us," Brett said. "When they are on we have been strong."
Brittney Davis had 27 kills, Ashley Brokenshaw had 27 assists and six aces and Hilton Foster added 16 assists in the win for Foley.
Morghan Ray had 25 assists and 15 digs, Catherine Knight had 28 digs and Imani Kirksey had 11 kills for Fairhope (5-17, 1-4). Katelyn Hayes had 10 kills, and Carrighan Rockwell and Rickie Lee Constant had three blocks apiece for Fairhope.
"I was very proud of the way we played even though we didn't get the win," Fairhope head coach Melissa Knight said. "We didn't play at all last week, just practiced. I think the week off helped us get focused and to grow as a team, and it showed."
Foley will visit Gulf Shores on Wednesday at 5:30, while Fairhope will play in the Daphne tournament on Friday and Saturday.
