FOLEY — A Foley man has been arrested for the alleged sexual abuse of a relative’s child.

Foley Police arrested 34-year-old Eddie Terrance Thomas Thursday following an interview involving the investigation into the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old-girl by someone who was suspected to be a family member.

“During the interview, he confessed to sexually abusing the victim numerous times over the past three years,” Kelly O’Donnell of Foley Police Department said, adding that Thomas is the victim’s uncle.

Upon arrest, Thomas was taken to Foley Jail. Foley Police Lt. David White explained that because the crime is a felony, Thomas was transferred to Baldwin County Corrections Facility in Bay Minette on Friday. At press time, he was still in custody and charged with the Class B felony of a sexual child abuse of a child under 12 years old.

White said the victim did not appear to have injuries. However, the case remains under investigation, “To see if there are any more victims,” the lieutenant said.

“If you have any information concerning this investigation, please contact the Foley Police Department at 251-943-4431,” O’Donnell added.
