Foley city council handles weed nuisance

The Foley City Council convened during its Monday  meeting with weeds as the central topic of the meeting.

 The council has been discussing the problem of weeds and the effect to the community.  With little discussion, the Council voted unanimously to pass a resolution accepting the costs for weed abatement violations located at 511 W. Amanda Ave.  The information will be forwarded to the tax accessor for application of lien. The council set an additional public hearing for Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss abatement needs at 602 W. Fern Avenue, 312 W. Myrtle Ave. and a lot on W. 6th Ave.    

 The City Council also adopted an Ordinance, amending Chapter 4, Article V, Code of Ordinances City of Foley, code of Ordinances, State of Alabama, titled ‘Historic Preservation.”

 The City Council approved forwarding information regarding an out of control pet to the city attorney for consideration of nuisance status.

 In other business, Edgardo Bosch made a presentation regarding the upcoming reunion of Puerto Rico’s Ponce High School Class of 1955.  There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.  The next meeting of the Foley City Council will be held on Monday, Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
